Alyson Richards produced DON’T TALK TO IRENE starring newcomer Michelle McLeod and Oscar-winner Geena Davis. The film premiered at TIFF 2017 and won both the audience and jury awards at the Austin Film Festival. Other feature films she’s produced include Pat Mills’s dark comedy GUIDANCE (TIFF, New York Times Critic Pick, Netflix) and the feature documentary QUALITY BALLS (Hot Docs, Showtime).

She collaborated with writer/director Trevor Anderson on his 35mm short DOCKING. They worked with Cinematographer Peter Wunstorf (THE KILLING), Production Designer Todd Cherniawsky (STAR WARS:THE LAST JEDI), Emmy nominated Editor Justin Lachance (BIG LITTLE LIES) and Oscar Award winning Special FX makeup Designer Christien Tinsley (WESTWORLD) to bring the ambitious project to life. The film is set to premiere at Sundance 2019.

Prior to producing on her own, Alyson was the Vice President of Production & Creative Affairs for The Nightingale Company. She was sent to Los Angeles to open their U.S office, where she developed and produced series for networks including Lifetime, HBO Canada, Shaw Media, CTV and the CW.

She recently directed the short film A BIRTHDAY STORY, which screened at New Filmmakers Los Angeles and won a Remi Award at the Houston Film Festival and an award of Excellence at the One-Reeler Short Film Competition. She also co-wrote the feature film THE SUBLET that premiered at the Whistler Film Festival and was released as THE RESIDENT in the U.K. She is currently penning THE RETREAT (Top 6 Finalist in the Slamdance horror screenplay competition) with Pat Mills attached to direct.

Alyson has been a juror for the INTERNATIONAL EMMY AWARDS and is a mentor at the CANADIAN FILM CENTRE.
